How to make Bone Broth - I was intimidated to make bone broth for a while but it is super simple and makes your house smell delicious.

Ingredients:

  • 1 chicken carcass (as noted in picture I leave some meat and skin on the carcass to enhance flavor) or 2-4 animal bones; beef, turkey, pork, bison, lamb

  • 8-10 cups water

  • 1/2-1 onion cut into quarters or eighths

  • 3-4 stalks of celery (can also add carrots or other veggies you have on hand)

  • handful of peppercorn

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1-2 tbs apple cider vinegar or lemon juice (help draw the minerals out of the bones)

  • 3-4 springs thyme and/or rosemary

Place all ingredients in a crock pot and cook for 12-24 hours. The longer it cooks the better it tastes and more nutritious it becomes. Strain liquid and discard solids and store in fridge for up to 5 days or place in small containers and freeze.
